The Elenore

The Elenore is a modern residential and mixed-use commercial development located in Vancouver’s vibrant Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. The brick-faced building, designed by Proscenium Architecture + Interiors, nestles into an urban hillside site with generous setbacks and a terracing form that pays homage to Main Street’s single-storey industrial streetscape.

At ground level, the landscape design complements the architectural forms, allowing shops and restaurants to spill out into a lively and aesthetically pleasing public realm. Private entrances for the townhomes and the main tower condominiums are delineated with evergreen planting, custom site furnishings, and stainless steel privacy screens that reference geometric forms found in the building’s facade.

On the amenity decks, the angled design of the upper building massing creates spacious outdoor patios and a generous podium that offers views of the downtown skyline and the North Shore Mountains. We designed a series of green roofs with undulating mounds, constructed over voids to reduce the weight load. Pine and maple trees, along with carefully placed logs and boulders, combine to create a West Coast environment right at residents’ doorsteps. As a LEED Gold-certified building, the incorporation of native plants and water-efficient landscaping helped the design team meet compliance targets.
